Rise and shine friends! is a greeting you would always hear from Drei any time of the day.
Drei works as a marketing professional and accepts consultancy services here and there. But in the seeming uptight business and corporate setting she works in; she found a way to loosen up and keep the good vibes spreading.
“Nung nag MBA ako, pinapanuod ko sina Lloyd, Will, Janina and Michelle Dy, sila yung mga nagiging stress reliever ko. Then I realized, parang pwede ko rin namang gawin yun, kaya ko rin naman mag-kwento. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, as a reward after I finish my MBA, I will try to start vlogging.
Inaral ko muna yung vlogging, then when I started doing it, I realized this is a whole new level – may marketing, editing, scriptwriting and everything. Pero na-enjoy ko naman each and every step ng paggawa.
Then I got an opportunity to audition to be part of Tee Radio. At that time naghahanap sila ng mga fresh faces, so I tried and fortunately, nakapasok. It has been my childhood dream to be a DJ.”
Almost three years into vlogging and hosting shows over Tee Radio, Drei has learned to be mindful of her content, spreading only goodness and happiness. However, she was not exempted from mean people in the internet.
“I am bullied online and offline. Yung bullying ngayon ay more on sa health ko – ay ang taba mo naman, as if maapektuhan ako ng ganon. Sometimes, pag may sinasabi ka na against sa belief nila, ang babalikan nila talaga yung weight ko, tapos sabihin panget ka. Siguro hurt people hurt people.
I pause and reflect tapos babalik ka ulit sa mga tao who draws inspiration from you. Sa kanila rin ako humuhugot ng inspiration. Sa panahon ngayon, all of us are prone to anxieties, yung emotion natin ngayon heightend 10 times. I let myself feel it first, then mag-move on ako, maraming taong naghihintay na mapasaya ko sila.”
A few years back, Drei learned of her hypothyroidism which causes slow metabolism and weight gain. Instead of wallowing, she took this as a challenge to work on her fitness, thus the birth of a new category on her vlog.
Every cloud surely has a silver lining for our bubbly host.
Before any aspiring vlogger learn the technical hoops of this emerging skill and hobby, Dj Drei has this to say.
“Hindi natin kailangan ng content that will spread hatred, negativity. Let’s focus on how we can share our life and how this can help people.
Always be real. ■
